This scent came to me as I stood at the place where the headland meets the shoreline, overlooking the Southern Ocean below. With an almost playful storm approaching, the sea calmed immediately after the powerful crash of the wave.
Hurriedly descending upon the perfumery studio, I set about creating what would be ‘Solace. It is the inspiration palette (pictured below) that creates the narrative; helping me to define the characteristics and as far to say, charisma, of the accord.
The original Monique Fedor painting ‘searching for solace’ captured the femininity; the pureness I needed to evoke. Denoting through the stone, inspiration of the elements of both light and darkness. Tiny pockets of black captured in the teeny black patterned shell, the solidness of the black lid on the glass bottle and the dead, mottled leaf. A collection of moss signifying a presence of greenness to the oceanic scent, the reflection of the glass bottles dedicated to a bright opening but the majority presence of matte textures, telling a tale the reflects a calming sea. With key notes of marine accord, tuberose, black pepper, freesia, bergamot and indian coriander seed, I have drawn inspiration from the southern stormy shorelines of my home on the Limestone Coast, South Australia.
I wanted to share with you, the making of this scent as a body of work that has been a labour of love; an intentionally emotive piece; a connection to a place.
‘SOLACE’ is available now online only and is here for a limited time.
I hope you adore it.
